Abstract

When designing a museum the main challenge is to create a neutral background upon which artefacts and artworks might be presented which is made easier when the nature of the exhibits is known, items of clothing, accessories and drawings all created by the same hand: therefore the real challenge lays with how to dress the museums exterior. Rising from stone at pavement level, passing over a concrete belt up towards decorative brickwork which has been treated more in like a textile than a construction material creating a play on light and form indicative of the works of Yves Saint Laurent.
