Abstract

A kutatás kiindulópontjául az az általánosan osztott feltételezés szolgált, hogy a huszadik század végén új korszak köszöntött be az európai demokráciák történetében; van itt tehát valami radikálisan új, ami értelmezést kíván. A kutatás előfeltevése, hogy a modern demokrácia, illetve demokráciák természete megérthetetlen a politikai tudás mibenlétére feltett kérdés nélkül. De, hogy mi is lenne az a bizonyos „politikai” és az ehhez kapcsolódó tudás, abban viszont már egyáltalán nincs egyetértés. A kutatás célja az volt, hogy feltárja, elkülönítse és értelmezze azokat a politikaelméleti paradigmákat, amelyek a politikai tudás mibenlétére irányuló kérdéseket a modern demokráciák megértésének a szándékához kapcsolják. Az így vizsgált „politikaelméletet” a kutatás egyfelől szűken fogta fel, amennyiben a kormányzás, a politikai vezetés és az állam kulcsfogalmaira összpontosított, másfelől tág teret is nyitott a lehetséges paradigmáknak, mivel azokat a koncepciókat is vizsgálat tárgyává tette, amelyek a politika természetének realista megközelítésével szemben éppenséggel az állam és kormányzás jelenségének szkeptikus vagy éppen depolitizáló szándékával lépnek fel. A kutatás egyúttal a modern demokráciák és a politikai tudás összefüggéseit hangsúlyozva a vizsgált kérdéseket az univerzalizmus-partikularizmus vita tengelyében is elhelyezte, elsősorban a politikai tudás civilizációkhoz való kötöttségére, valamint egyugyanazon nézetrendszeren belüli eltérő előfeltevésekre, illetve következetésekre irányítva a figyelmet. | The starting point of the research would be the widely shared notion that at the end of the 20th century a new era in the history of European democracies began; something radically different that demands interpretation. The pre-supposition of the research would be that the nature of modern democracy, or democracies, cannot be understood without questioning the nature of political knowledge. On the other hand, there is absolutely no consensus on what we should mean by “the political,” and knowledge related to it. The aim of the research would be to explore, isolate, and interpret paradigms in political theory which connect questions related to the nature of political knowledge to the intention to understand modern democracies. The research conceived the examined “political theory” in a scaled down frame as it focused only on the key concepts of governance and political leadership, but on the other hand, it opened the possible paradigms up as well, because it investigated the concepts that are inclined to depolitise and question the phenomenon of the sate and governance instead of applying the realistic approach to politics. At the same time, by emphasizing the interrelationships between modern democracies and political knowledge, my research placed the examined issues in the axis of universalist-particularistic discussion, and primarily drove the attention to the civilisational dependence of political knowledge, also to the differing premises and consequences of the same system of view.
