Abstract

A PEM tüzelőanyagcellákat tápláló hidrogénből az anódkatalizátort mérgező CO eltávolítása nagy jelentőségű folyamat. A támogatott kutatás keretében különböző típusú katalizátor-rendszereket vizsgáltunk CO nagy feleslegű hidrogénben végzett katalitikus oxidációjában (PROX reakció). Mn-oxalát lecsapásával és hőmérséklet programozott oxidációjával előállított nem-sztöchiometrikus MnOx esetén a kezdeti 90%-os CO konverzió folyamatosan csökkent a rácsból irreverzibilisen kivont oxigén miatt. | Removal of CO from hydrogen feed to PEM fuel cells is a practically important process. In the framework of this project different kinds of catalytic systems were examined in the CO oxidation reaction in the presence of large hydrogen excess (PROX reaction). Mn-, Co-, mixed Mn-Co-oxides and Au-CuO-CeO2 system, with three active components, were examined in details. The interaction of these components, the effect of composition and structure was studied. It was found, that Au/CuO/SiO2 catalyst is more effective in the PROX reaction than the Au/SiO2 and CuO/SiO2 systems (maximum CO conversion, ?CO=60-65%). The CuO/CeO2 system resulted in almost 100% conversion after reductive pre-treatment, but in a narrow temperature window. Introduction of Au nanoparticles weakened its PROX performance. The non-stoichiometric MnOx, prepared by Mn-oxalate precipitation and temperature programmed oxidation, resulted in 90% CO conversion initially, which decreased due to the irreversible elimination of the lattice oxygen. The Co3O4 prepared by the oxalate method resulted in almost 100% conversion around 180oC, the temperature window broadened (180-250oC) in repeated PROX cycles. In the case of Mn substituted Co3O4, prepared by co-precipitation of Mn and Co-oxalate, 100% CO conversion was obtained in the range of 130-180oC, which narrowed in consecutively repeated reactions. The discussion and interpretation of the observations is given in details in the publications about the results.
