Abstract

Tanulmányomban az első világháború után brit fennhatóság alatt létrejött iraki mandátum, azon belül is az új állam számára sok fejtörést okozó Moszul tartomány helyzetét vizsgálom meg. Ennek során arra a kérdésre keresem a választ, hogy milyen bel- és külpolitikai problémákat okozott Iraknak az, hogy Nagy-Britannia mindenáron az ország területéhez kívánta csatolni a moszuli térséget. Az elemzés során elsősorban az 1920-1932 közötti időszakra, a mandátum fennállásának idejére fókuszálok, azt követően ugyanis a térség által okozott külpolitikai probléma megszűnt. Ugyanakkor a belpolitikai kihívás, a „kurdkérdés” a mai napig fennáll, amelyről egy kitekintésben számolok be. Kutatásomhoz elsősorban a mandátum időszakából származó diplomáciai jelentéseket, memorandumokat használtam fel, amelyeket a szakirodalom segítségével elemeztem és értelmeztem, olyan perspektívákat is megvilágítva, amelyek kevéssé ismertek a magyar olvasók előtt. = In my study, I examine the situation of the Iraqi mandate, which was established under British rule after the First World War, focusing on the province of Mosul, which has caused many headaches for the new state. In doing so, I am trying to unfold the domestic and foreign policy problems that the fact has caused to Iraq that Britain wanted to attach the Mosul region to the territory of the country at all costs. In the course of the analysis, I focus primarily on the period of 1920-1932 – the existence of the mandate – after which the foreign policy problem in this region has ceased. At the same time, the domestic political challenge, the “Kurdish question”, persists to this day, so in this case I am also presenting the situation after 1932. For my research, I mainly used diplomatic reports and memoranda from the mandate period, which I analysed and interpreted with the help of the literature, highlighting perspectives that might not be well known to Hungarian readers.
