Abstract

The author of this paper studied the migrating and hibernating waterfowl population along a 22 kmlong stretch of the River Dráva between Bares and Szentborbás during the period of 1996-2000. During the field samplings (which was) carried out on 36 occasions the occurrence of 27 bird species were proved. Along the investigated section of the river, the maximum number of species found on the spot per occasions was 18, while the maximum specimen number found was 7864. The 70% of the samplings contained only the species of Anas platyrhynchos, Phalacrocorax carbo, Ardea cinerea and Anas crecca. According to the results, the stretch of Dráva between Tótújfalu-Szentborbás proved to be the most significant.
