Abstract

A késő rézkori fémműves emlékek és a kevés anyagvizsgálat különböző cikkekben találhatók meg, az archeometriai adatok többnyire lábjegyzetben vagy csak rövid bekezdésben olvashatóak. A badeni kultúra fémművességének teljes áttekintése hiányzik a kutatásból. A jelen tanulmányban a késő rézkori fémművesség sokrétűségét mutatja be a szerző. The relics of Late Copper Age metallurgy and the few metallographic analyses are scattered in various academic publications, in which the archaeometric data are usually relegated to footnotes or a brief paragraph. We still lack a systematic overview of the metallurgy of the Baden culture, a gap which will hopefully be filled by the author’s new monograph. Presented here are some of the major findings of this monograph. Described and discussed in the monograph are 231 artefacts from 30 sites. The use of different metalworking techniques (cold hammering, beads created from sheet metal by folding or twisting, cast axes, lost-wax casting), the utilitarian tools and implements of daily life and a variety of unique finds suggest an extensive network of contacts over an immense territory. The metallurgy and metal artefacts of the Baden culture both incorporated ritual elements and expressed differences in status within a community, an indication that there were several dimensions to the culture’s metalworking.
