Abstract
= In our work, the time series of economic sentiment indicators calculated by the European Union on a monthly basis are investigated in search of a possible relationship between the average financial performance of companies operating in Hungary and the economic sentiment indicators. In the case of our sample used for the empirical research, we found that the two time series were similar over the period of 2013–2020. The strength of the relationship, however, is considerably weakened by the occurrence of the coronavirus pandemic for the small, medium and large companies.
