Abstract
LEGO FACTORY, NYÍREGYHÁZA, HUNGARY; ARCHITECTS: MARINA ANNUS and GÁBOR HORVÁTH When designing an industrial building, finance is typically leading factor. It is a rare moment when the construction cost is only one aspect among many, here other layers needed to be considered, aesthetics, operation, and environmental responsibility. A toy factory leads to questions of how to reflect the product in the design of the building, constructed from bright colours, accessibility to all and safe operation. Separation of automated functions, pedestrian access, and forklift truck routes. The building itself functions somewhat like the toy bricks manufactured within, systematic, safe and reusable.
