Abstract
In this paper hardwood gallery forests (Fraxino pannonicae-Ulmetum) occurring along the Dráva River in Baranya county are characterized using 50 phytosociological records. This association occupies habitats in the higher river floodplain influenced by groundwater. It shows some similarities to the hardwood gallery forests occurring on sandy soil in the neighbouring Belső Somogy (Knautio drymeiae-Ulmetum), especially in the presence of some species with submediterranean distribution.
