Abstract

The present paper tries to present the difficulties of creating a Romanian – English legal term base with the aim of integrating it into computer - assisted translation tools. The presented data are taken from seve n Romanian – English law dictionaries, taking into consideration both quantitative and qualitative aspects. The quantitative part shows us the number of entries for a specific term, whereas the qualitative part derives from the relevance of the legal terms f ound. We will discuss specific problems for Romanian (diacritical signs, alphabetical order) and English (typographical errors, spelling issues) or the conversion of the .xls(x) format in a standard one for term bases (.csv).
