Abstract

A Pt/A1203 catalyst undergoes complete deactivation by iodine in the catalytic combustion of hydrogen by air under flow conditions. Partial reactivation occurs on switching off the iodine stream. Nearly full recovery in activity could be achieved at higher temperature. The deactivated-reactivated catalyst could not be completely deactivated on switching back the iodine stream indicating substantial rearrangement of the catalytic surface.
