Abstract

A new Crusea species has been detected by the botanists of SERBO in South of Oaxaca in the river valleys of the pine-oak belt. It is a beautiful big-flowered plant with long style lobes, similar to the common C. coccinea DC. but clearly different from it by its densely white short hairy stems, hispid leaves minutely sharp-serrulate at the margin, lobulate involucral bracts, short lanceolate calyx-lobes and hirsute corolla with long unicellular white hairs, among others.
