Abstract
The study of the Rotatoria fauna started in Somogy county in 1885. So far 343 taxons have been observed in the different water bodies, 27 belonging to Bdelloidea, 270 to Ploimida and 45 to Gneisotrocha. The Rotatoria fauna of Lake Balaton is well - known, because a lot of articles have been published since 1885. Other water bodies were much less researched in this respect. Recently studies of the Rotatoria fauna have been restarted, for example, in fishponds and in different water bodies of Duna - Dráva National Park. Discovery of new species can be expected from these investigations.
