Abstract

Az un. PEMFC megfelelő működéséhez olyan hidrogén előállítása szükséges, amelynek szénmonoxid tartalma kevesebb, mint 100 ppm. A PROX célja szénmonoxid tartalom csökkentése szelektív oxidációval. Katalitikus vizsgálatinkat együttműködés keretében un. "nagy-nyomású", in-situ röntgen-fotoelektron-spektroszkópia (XPS) és in-situ diffúz visszaverődési infravörös spektroszkópia (DRIFT) módszereivel egészítettük ki. Kutatásaink során, feltérképeztük a PROX reakció mechanizmusát cérium-oxid hordozós Pt illetve Pd katalizátorok esetében. A Pt/CeO2 katalizátorokon a CO oxidáció szelektivitása magasabb, mint a Pd tartalmú minták esetén, amely a Pd/CeO2 minták esetén kialakuló stabil beta-Pd-hidrid fázis jelenlétével magyarázható. A Pt/CeO2 esetén vizsgáltuk a reakció időbeni lefutását, illetve a parciális nyomások változtatásának hatását. Megállapítottuk, hogy a reakció kezdetén először a hordozó telítődik karbonát speciesekkel, majd felépül egy Pt-CO borítottság és egy "adszorbeált víz - felületi OH" hidrogén-híd kötésű struktúra, amelynek kettős szerepe van: (i) megakadályozza a hidrogén jelentős mértékű oxidálását és (ii) un. alacsony hőmérsékletű víz-gáz reakcióban (LTWGS) reagál a fémrészecskék peremén lineárisan adszorbeált szénmonoxiddal. A parciális nyomások változtatásával igazoltuk, hogy a reakció közben a CO hatására kialakuló cérium-oxid hibahelyeknek (oxigén vakanciáknak) fontos szerepük van a felületen adszorbeált víz stabilizálásában és így a szelektivitás növelésében. | The CO content of the hydrogen feed to the so called PEMFC must be kept lower than 100 ppm. The aim of the PROX reaction is to selectively oxidize CO in the presence of hydrogen. Our catalytic studies were completed by in-situ, high pressure XPS and in-situ DRIFT methods in cooperation. We have succeeded to determine the reaction mechanism of the PROX reaction on ceria supported Pt and Pd catalysts. The selectivity is, as a rule, higher on Pt/CeO2 than on Pd containing samples, which could be explained by the formation of beta-Pd-hydride phase. In the case of Pt/CeO2, temporal evolution of the reaction as well as the effect of partial pressures has been examined. We concluded, that at the beginning of the reaction the catalyst is first saturated by carbonate species, and then the Pt-CO coverage builds up, and an "adsorbed water -surface OH" hydrogen bonded structure is formed. This latter has two major effects: (i) it avoids further oxidation of water and (ii) it can react with CO linearly adsorbed on Pt at the metal-support boundary sites, in a low-temperature water-gas-shift-type (LTWGS) reaction. By means of partial pressure dependent measurements, we could prove, that cerium-oxide vacancies formed by CO, have crucial role in stabilizing this surface water, and thus in increasing the selectivity towatds CO oxidation.
