Abstract
PRECISION AND TOLERANCE IN ARCHITECTURE When precision is mentioned in architectural circles the construction of Swiss buildings is often referred to, the same applies to the extent of accuracy or tolerances applied. Historically brickwork seemed to be examined as a measure of accuracy. Naturally this work was manual in its nature, brick placed upon brick within tolerance ranges as applied by the bricklayer. Now with digitalization brickwork can be prepared in advance as part of the BIM process and applied by robotic bricklaying machines. Although the new methods might be more precise the result might fall foul to the nature of the material used.
