Abstract

The main aim of the study is to explore the economic impacts of COVID-19 in Subcarpathia. In the first part of the study the global, Hungarian, and Ukrainian trends of the epidemic are assessed through professional literature processing. As a first step, the evaluation of short-term changes in health, education, and political systems in different countries of the world was presented through social research. In the economic subchapter, we compared the macroeconomic forecasts made at the beginning of the epidemic with the real results of the last year and a half. The second part of the study is focused on our own primary research, with which we wanted to map the border areas in Subcarpathia, mostly inhabited by Hungarians, examining the impact of the epidemic and related restrictions on the local population and its social and economic situation. With the help of the two types of questionnaires, we examined the educational sphere on the one hand, and the general population in general on the other.
