Abstract

A kísérletet esőztetve öntöztük. Főbb megállapításaink: – A gyep fajösszetétele. E kezelésben a füvek közül legnagyobb mennyiségben a réti perje fordult elő, jelentős tömegű réti csenkesz társaságában. Az NP kombinált kezelésekben – 10 év átlagában – a fű:pillangós: gyom tömegarány 82:11:7%-ot tett ki. A kísérlet első évében a réti csenkesz vált uralkodóvá, melyet a 3. évben a csomós ebír váltott fel. A 4. évtől kezdve fokozatosan a réti perje vette át a vezető szerepet, melyet a kísérlet utolsó éveiben megosztott az ismét megerősödött réti csenkesszel. – A gyep szénatermése. | The effect of P and N fertilization on the species composition (mass ratio) and hay yield of the sward was examined over a period of 10 years on a planted grassland established after ploughing up a pasture with strongly calcareous meadow soil rich in humus and potassium but poor in phosphorus. The grass seed had the following composition (kg·ha–1): Grasses: English ryegrass: 2.64; common meadow grass: 11.44; creeping bentgrass: 7.04; meadow fescue: 11.44; orchardgrass: 3.52; total: 36.08; Legumes: large leafy white clover: 4.44; bird’s foot trefoil: 2.64; total: 7.08. Total seed quantity: 43.16 kg·ha–1. Fertilizer rates applied: P0: 0, P1: 40, P2: 80, P3: 120 kg P2O5·ha–1; N0: 0, N1: 120, N2: 200, N3: 280, N4: 360 kg N·ha–1, alone and in all possible combinations, giving a total of 4×5 = 20 fertilizer treatments, applied in 4 replications on plots with a net area of 4×5 = 20 m². The P fertilizer was applied in autumn every year, while the N fertilizer was split into three equal parts and applied to the three cuts. Depending on the moisture content of the soil, the sward was sprinkle-irrigated on 1–2 occasions per cut, with 40–50 mm water each time. The water capacity of the humus-containing soil layer was 80–90 mm. The sward was cut four times a year and the yield was recorded as air-dry hay per plot. The species composition was scored each year, for each cut and plot. The mass ratio was estimated for each species in the first cut and for species groups in the other cuts. The main conclusions can be summarized as follows: – Species composition of the sward. When the grassland was planted the whole area was given a uniform rate of NP fertilizer in order to develop a well-established sward with identical species composition. There was thus satisfactory grass cover even on the control plots for the first 2–3 years. Over the years, however, the increasing P deficiency resulted in the gradual thinning of the sward. The application of N fertilizer alone had a negative effect due to the excessive N supplies. P fertilizer alone greatly enhanced the development and productivity of both the grasses and the legumes. Averaged over the P rates and 10 years, the grass:legume:weed mass ratio was 50:44:6%. In this treatment the dominant grass species was common meadow grass, but there was also a large proportion of meadow fescue. In the combined NP treatments, averaged over 10 years, the grass:legume:weed mass ratio was 82:11:7%. In the first year of the experiment the dominant species was meadow fescue, but by the third year it was replaced by orchardgrass. From the 4th year common meadow grass took over the dominant role, which it shared in the later years of the experiment with meadow fescue. Among the legumes, only bird’s foot trefoil remained as the fertilizer rate increased. – Hay yield of the sward. Due to the great P deficiency of the soil, the yield was unsatisfactory on the control plot and on those treated with N alone. Depending on the rate, P fertilizer greatly increased the yield, by 177, 256 and 285% in the three treatments, averaged over 10 years, equivalent to hay surpluses of 85, 62 and 45 kg per kg P2O5. It can thus be seen that even the 120 kg P2O5·ha–1 rate resulted in a significant increase in yield, despite the fact that a substantial quantity of phosphorus accumulated in the soil over the years. The highest yields were obtained with the joint application of N and P. As the N fertilizer rate rose, averaged over the P treatments and 10 years, the yield surpluses amounted to 1.12, 2.11, 2.86 and 3.36 t hay·ha–1. The yield-increasing effect of P fertilizer was considerably greater. Rising P rates led to hay yield surpluses of 4.80, 6.95 and 7.73 t·ha-1, averaged over 10 years and the N rates. The 120 kg P2O5·ha–1 rate thus significantly increased the yield even in the NP combinations. Averaged over 10 years, the highest yield (12.89 t·ha-1) was achieved in the N360P120 treatment, compared with 2.24 t·ha-1 in the control. As the years passed, the hay yields declined considerably, especially after the 5th year. It is clear from the results that the use of P or NP fertilization makes it possible to establish a sward producing high yields of good quality, with very good fertilizer efficiency, on pastures with calcareous meadow soil.
