Abstract

In the next 35 years 750,000 ha of afforestation is expected while climate change exposes the forests to extreme trials. Afforestation is intense in the Danube-Tisza Interfluve, where the proportion of the trees and the risk of climate change are high as well. For the geographic evaluation MODIS based spectral indices (NDDI, NDWI, NDVI, EVI) were investigated in 2000-2017(2014). The index series do not show trend change. Reduction process is typical for consecutive dry years, but one wet season is sufficient for avoiding the decrease over the longer term. Based on climatology predicts dry years will be constant what reduce the biomass immediately. Vegetation periods are also well-assessed, such as a spring intensity. According to the standardized deviations there are significant biomass reduction areas. Spectral index data and drought index and LANDSAT data show strong relationship.
