Abstract
Contexts of innovation are emphasised to be crucial, while also localised and individual. The systemic views of innovation provide foundations and explanations why the likelihood of innovation and new knowledge use is higher (or lower) in different innovation systems. Understanding the components of the context and the implementation mechanisms of innovation systems from the individual’s (human) perspective has not yet been enough studied. If it is possible to draft a working and empirically testable, generalizable framework, it may open a new, and potentially effective perspective for studying, measuring and managing innovation. The paper presents a possible framework as well as a questionnaire survey design for testing some important elements of the framework. The empirical work takes place among undergraduate students with different educational backgrounds and in different countries
