Abstract

Innovation management (IM), interpreted as a unique discipline and broad field of scholarly research, has produced an immense amount of scientific contributions. Whether the field has been integrating and framing its own disciplinary boundary and reach towards other fields is an interesting question. Using a unique search strategy, metadata of nearly 55 thousand IM articles have been analysed in an exploratory approach. The number of articles and the structure of journals point to maturing of the IM field. Using core documents clustering for different periods of time, narrower IM-fields have been identified along with more complex thematic foci. Fine-tuning and cross validation of the initial results will be implemented in later stages of the research.
