Abstract
Nowadays the role of information is increasingly important therefore the use of various information systems is an essential requirement for all enterprises. Microenterprises are in a difficult position because they cannot afford to implement expensive software applications but at the same time they have to remain competitive so they need these kind of systems. Microenterprise is the most common business type in the developed countries, that explains why it is essential to analyze their IT penetration and usage habits. The present paper is an overview of the business information systems in use by microenterprises in Germany, Hungary and Slovakia.
