Abstract
Pavilions in parks, including this one in Budapest's Varosliget Park, have often suffered from neglect and/or poorly conceived restoration work. Here is an example where stepping back in time to examine the original designs has inspired a more socially and architecturally sensitive project. The original external envelope has been restored to its original decorative splendour, whilst the interior design has paid its dues to the past without submitting to overt sentimentality, providing an improved visitor experience.
