Abstract
Moving through the historic centre of Pécs a solid patch of colour appears, a cardinal red rendered assembly of play blocks. Following the initial impact of this bold building, the horizontal, transparent nature of its form takes precedence creating a safe place for children to learn and play whilst framing unobstructed views of its surroundings. Following examples of kindergartens in both Japan and China the flat roof serves as a playground maximising the potential for child development in conjunction with the idea of creating a "microcosmic " symbolic environment.
