Abstract

In our experiment effect of three mulching methods (black geotextile, hay, straw) were investigated on the vegetative and generative parameters of organically-grown strawberry varieties (Joly and Asia). The effect of different mulching methods on yield and fruit quality is not clear from the two-year data, so we continue our experiments. In fresh root mass and root length studies, we found a statistically significant difference between the covered and uncovered areas for both varieties. In the uncovered areas, the root system was less branched than in the covered areas.
