Abstract

Az íjászat régóta a harci kultúra fontos részét képezi, amelynek írásos lenyomata már az ókori irodalomban is megjelent a hadászati munkákban a leírások és terminológia kapcsán. Jelen tanulmány egy későbbi, a X. század második felében keletkezett arab kéziratnak, az Abú Muḥammad ʿAbd al-Raḥmān Aḥmad al-Ṭabarī által írt Kitāb al-wādih fi al-Ramī (A tisztaság könyve az íjászatban) részleteit közli magyar fordításban. A szemelvények fordítása előtt rövid bevezetés olvasható, amelyben a fordító a szerzővel és a kézirattal kapcsolatos fontosabb tudnivalókat közli, valamint a mű kulturális hátteréről szólva a mamlúk furusiyya irodalom főbb jellemzőit is összegzi. Al-Ṭabarī kézirata a többi, e témában íródott munkához hasonló felépítésű: a mű eleje az íjászat jelentését elemzi, és a Próféta szájába adott íjászattal kapcsolatos hagyományokat idézi a szerző, majd ezt követően tér rá a lényegi részre. A könyv fejezetekre van bontva: először az íjászat elemeit, technikáit taglalja Al- Ṭabarī, majd áttér az eszközök, vagyis az íj és a vesszők tárgyalására, ahol részletes leírást ad a különböző íjfajtákról, és az íj részeinek elnevezéseiről. A kiválasztott szemelvények az íjászat alapjairól, tanításáról és technikájáról, (az íj megfogása és felajzása, a célzás, az ideg fogása, az ujjak elhelyezkedése, az oldásmódok), valamint a sérülésekről és az íj főbb részeiről értekeznek. | Archery was for a long time an important part of warfare, its written traces can be found already in the literature of ancient times, in the descriptions and the terminology of the works on strategics. The paper publishes excerpts from a later Arab manuscript from the second half of the tenth century, from Abú MuÎammad ‘Abd al-RaÎmÁn AÎmad al-Óabarī’s KitÁb al-wÁdih fi al-Ramī (The Book of Purity in Archery), in Hungarian translation. There is a short introduction before the translated excerpts where the translator writes down the most important things about the author and the manuscript, and while discussing the cultural background of the work she also gives a summary of the main characteristics of the mamlūk furūsiyya literature. The structure of Al-Óabarī’s manuscript is similar to the other works related to this subject: the first part of the work analyses the meaning of archery, and the author cites the traditions of archery as words coming from the Prophetʼs mouth; and then comes the main part. The book is divided into chapters: Al-Ṭabarī discusses the elements and techniques of archery first, followed by a treatise on the equipment, the bow and the arrows. Here he gives a detailed description of the different bow types and the names of bow parts. The selected excerpts discuss the basics and the techniques of archery, how it can be instructed (holding and drawing the bow, aiming, holding the string, positioning the fingers, releasing the arrow), and also speaks about the possible injuries and the main parts of the bow.
