Abstract

Kutatásunk elméleti és empirikus vizsgálódásokból állt. Az elméleti kutatások egybehangzóan igazolják hipotézisünket, hogy a szomatizációs jelenségek alakulásában jelentős szerepet játszik az adott kor tudományos diskurzusa, a kultúra és a gyógyító-beteg kapcsolat. Az elméleti kutatásokból 10 tanulmány és 4 konferencia előadás készült, 1 monográfia előkészületben van. A kutatás empirikus részében fókuszcsoport és interjú technikával, kérdőíves vizsgálattal, kórrajzok, irodalmi elbeszélések és esettörténetek, illetve média-reprezentációk elemzésével végeztük vizsgálatainkat Eredmények: 1. Magyarországon magasabbra becsülik a szomatizáció előfordulását, mint másutt 2. A tüneteket egyéni okoknak tulajdonítják, bár a társadalmi hatások szerepe is megjelenik a diskurzusokban 3. A tünetek reprezentációiban megjelennek a szomatizációval kapcsolatos kortárs teóriák elemei és a nemekkel kapcsolatos társadalmi sztereotípiák 4. A laikusok és szakemberek vélekedései több hasonlóságot mutatnak annál, mint a felek gondolják 5. a szomatizációs zavarok kialakulását jelentősen befolyásolják az orvos-beteg kommunikáció zavarai. Az empirikus kutatásból 6 tanulmány és 9 konferencia előadás készült (4 cikk előkészületben van). Eredményeink bemutatására szimpóziumot szerveztünk a Magyar Pszichológiai Társaság 2004-es Naggyűlésén, majd 2006 januárjában egy általunk szervezett konferencián (Tünetek és történetek. A szomatizáció társadalmi és művészeti olvasatai) tettük közzé a végső eredményeket. | Our research project consisted of theoretical and empirical studies. Our theoretical results unanimously prove the hypothesis that the scientific discourse of a given period plays a pivotal role in the formation of symptoms. Culture and doctor-patient relationship has an outstanding importance in the transference of these effects. We have published 10 articles and 4 conference papers from the results and a monograph is in peparation. In the empirical part of the research we used focus group and interview techniques, questionnaire survey, content-analysis of patient records, narratives, case studies and media-representations. Results: 1. In Hungary the estimated prevalance of somatization is much higher than in other countries 2. Symptoms are attributed mainly to individual causes but societal effects also appear in the discourses 3. Elements of theories about somatization and gender stereotypes appear in the representations of symptoms 4. Lay and professional representations show much more similarities than the parties suppose 5. Problems in doctor-patient communication contribute to the development of somatization symptoms. We have published 6 articles and 9 conference abstracs from the results (4 papers are in preparation). We organised a symposium at the 2004. conference of the Hungarian Psychological Society.
