Abstract

A kutatás elvégezte a magyar nyelv első átfogó és részletes (morfo)szintaktikai vizsgálatát a lexikai-funkcionális grammatika (LFG) keretében, amely egy alternatív nemtranszformációs generatív modell. Külön figyelmet fordított a különböző kategóriájú frázisok (morfo)szintaxisára, a neutrális és a nemneutrális mondatok szerkezetére, valamint az igekötős igék és a létigés konstrukciók kezelésére. Az eredmények ellenőrzése egy LFG-alapú számítógépes modellben való implementációval történt (Xerox Linguistic Environment). Ezt a modellt jelenleg is jelentős számú nyelv leírásához használják a Párhuzamos Nyelvtan (Parallel Grammar = ParGram) elnevezésű, széleskörű nemzetközi projekt keretében, amelybe kutatócsoportunk intenzíven bekapcsolódott. Ezáltal a kutatás eredményeit egy megalapozott, nyelveken átívelő összefüggésrendszerbe helyeztük. A kutatás menetközbeni eredményeit a következő formában dokumentáltuk: 41 előadás, 42 tudományos közlemény. A projekt második felében az elméleti kutatásokra alapozva, valamint az addig kifejlesztett implementációs nyelvtant alternatív módon fejlesztve és azt automatizáltan alkalmazva, plusz vállalásként összeállítottunk egy 1,5 millió szavas treebanket. Ez egyrészt nemzetközileg is jelentős teljesítmény, másrészt az implementációs nyelvtanunk sokoldalú, open access, on-line felhasználását is lehetővé teszi. Tudományos közleményeink felhasználásával szeptember végére összeállítjuk egy magyar nyelvű monográfia első kéziratváltozatát. | Our research has carried out the first comprehensive and detailed (morpho)syntactic analysis of the Hungarian language in a non-transformational, alternative generative framework: Lexical-Functional Grammar (LFG). It paid particular attention to the (morpho)syntax of various phrasal categories, the structure of neutral and non-neutral sentences as well as to the treatment of copula and particle verb constructions. It checked the validity of its results by implementing them in an LFG-based computational model used in the analysis of a great number of languages by a large-scale international project called ParGram (Parallel Grammar). Our research group played an active role in this co-operation. Thus, our findings were also posited in a well-established cross-linguistic context. The interim results of the research were reported in 41 conference presentations and 42 publications. In the second half of the project, in the form of an extra undertaking, we developed a 1.5 million word treebank by capitalizing on our theoretical research and by developing our implemented grammar in an alternative direction. On the one hand, this treebank is a remarkable achievement on an international scale, and, on the other hand, it makes possible the multifunctional, open access, on-line use of our implemented grammar. By capitalizing on our publications, we will have compiled the first draft of a monograph in Hungarian by the end of September.
