Abstract
The study aims to represent the backgrounds, events, and consequences of the activity of Hungarian medical staff in Yemen. In connection with this we would like to present in detail the health situation in Yemen in the first half of the 20th century, the Arab country’s health cooperation with socialist states, the experience of setting up and operating a Hungarian health institution, and the impressions of Hungarian–Yemeni health cooperation during the period. The main objective of the study is to present in detail this example of world-class Hungarian medical assistance, in the light of the relevant documents of the Hungarian National Archives. In describing the process, we also would like to place great emphasis on the presentation of the consequences of the adverse circumstances and the conditions of the Civil War, which will further increase the value of the results achieved by the Hungarian medical staff.
