Abstract
Modernization of a former textiles factory, Zalaegerszeg, Hungary; Architect: Gábor Lekics Restoration and change of use regarding former industrial buildings reveals itself as a five-step process: where assessment of the existing fabric, passes through an examination of expected energy demand, structural considerations, mechanical services design, eventually leading to the need for a projected life cycle analysis. Once these stepsmhave been made then the redesigning can take take place. The obvious advantage to brown field development being a reduction in long-term environmental impact.
