Abstract

Athletics Stadium, Budapest, Hungary; Architect: Marcel Ferencz The Budapest Athletics Stadium will be implemented in several stages due to the organization of the 2023 World Athletics Championships. In addition to the high degree of freedom intended regarding post-event use, and the need for a yearround use of the facility as a whole and the low proportion of heated spaces requiring special boundary conditions have occurred during the design. The interiors of the building will be realized as internally insulated rooms within the reinforced concrete supporting structures, also keeping in mind the physical aspects of the building. The article shows how the openwork surfaces in traditional architecture can appear in today's architecture due to technological development, how they can be used in many ways, and at the same time what new opportunities they create in the formation and appearance of architectural forms.
