Abstract
Klotild Palace restoration, Budapest, Hungary Behind the parapet walls of this architecturally significant neo-baroque hotel a nondescript roof could be found. The decision to restore the building's elevations naturally required a faithful to original plans input, yet the roof offered itself up to redevelopment. Capping this building in extensive glazing resulted in new spaces being added to a building already rich in functionality. The building has been supplemented with new contemporary elements: a skybar, a roof terrace, glass roofs to the inner courtyards, and curtain walling, which, with their modern structures, form an integral part of the renovated monument.
