Abstract
REDEVELOPED VILLA, BUDAPEST, HUNGARY; ARCHITECT: ÁDÁM PÁSZTOR A client's dream to have a Scandinavian styled home in Budapest took form when remodelling an existing villa in the Buda Hills. Faced with the problems of an extremely steep site, hard to access by car, and the need for will lit spaces the designers adopted the idea of reversing the home: entrance, garage and living spaces sitting above the bedrooms and ancillary functions. Working with brick cladding, raw concrete, and daylighting as design tools a balance between exterior and interior has been achieved. Whether or not the home is Scandinavian in style is open for question as it seems to fit comfortably alongside its contemporaries found in modern Hungarian architecture.
