Abstract

YOUTH CAMP, BALATONFENYVES, HUNGARY – ARCHITECTS: ESZTER and GYÖRGY DÉNES Not far from the vineyard town of Balatonfenyves out of scale apartment buildings and hotels can be found on the shore of the Lake Balaton. Here the client organisation and architects made a conscious decision to keep to a traditional approach regarding scale and proportion. A summer camp should be memorable, not mechanical, hence the use of known architectural forms, colours, and courtyard areas. The children staying here will feel welcomed, safe, and entertained. Shelter being provided by covered terraces surrounding a communal courtyard.
