Abstract

This study is the last one of a three-part series reviewing the history of Hungarian language technical terminology. In this article, we strive to present all the factors that have influenced the state of Hungar-ian technical language and terminology at a particular period of time during the past hundred years. Over a long period of time, the most important part in establishing and disseminating adequate Hun-garian terms was played by standards, dictionaries and the publishing of technical literature. Since this situation has dramatically changed by now, after presenting the current state of affairs, we make sug-gestions on handling terminological problems emerging in the course of technical communication, the instruction of technical language or the translation of technical literature.
