Abstract
BISHOP EDWARD KING CHAPEL, RIPON COLLEGE CUDDESDON, ENGLAND; ARCHITECTS: NIALL McLAUGHLIN ARCHITECTS Informed by Bernini's Sant’Andrea al Quirinale in Rome and Rudolph Schwarz’s St Michael Church in Frankfurt, this chapel is elliptical in plan. A form that is best suited to antiphonal use, where worshipers face each other to inspire discourse. Constructed from timber as a reference to the great beech trees often found at Anglican places of worship. The form of this chapel is purposeful in the way it creates a sense of community as opposed to the priest facing parallel ranks of worshipers.
