Abstract
This paper deals with the uniform torsion of thin-walled elliptical tube. The material of the tube is non- homogeneous and it depends on one of the curvilinear coordinates which defines the cross section of thin-walled bar with closed profile. The approximate solution for the stresses, torsion function and torsional rigidity are obtained by the application of two extreme value theorems of linearized elasticity.
