Abstract
Time as a Tool and an Alternative Way of Thinking about the Theatre. The paper explores some aspects of the theatre through different concepts of time in philosophy. It explores how aspects of temporality can open up new possibilities for discussing the theatre. It addresses questions concerning the theatre director’s concept of time, the measurement of performance time, and attempts to develop a definition of theatrical time based on the theories of Anne Ubersfeld and Patrice Pavis. The paper seeks ways to discuss the actor’s work beyond the duality of actor and role.
