Abstract
The 21st century is unequivocally defined by technology and online space, which raises particularly important issues about human rights as well, for example, freedom of expression or freedom of the press. Already in antiquity, we know some cases where the aim was undoubtedly to silence others, and it has happened many times throughout history, regardless of the suppression of individual views or movements. Gergely Gosztonyi’s book Censorship from Aristotle to Facebook examines this phenomenon. This monograph presents the history and current challenges of censorship, especially the regulation and practice of the European Union and the European Court of Human Rights. In addition, the author draws his own conclusions and makes proposals for a more optimal regulatory environment.
