Abstract
Due to its special geographical location, China’s northwestern border has always been a place where different powers have clashed. In the 19 th century, the tsarist government took advantage of the ethnic problems that existed at that time and forced the ethnic minorities living in the border regions of Xinjiang to change their citizenship to Russian. After the October Revolution, Russian emigrants, among whom were many nobles, fled to the SAR of Xinjiang and the province of Gansu, where, having joined the naturalized army, they became representatives of naturalized ethnic groups. However, with the full penetration of the Soviet government, the role of these immigrants in the modern political, economic and cultural life of the Northwest region of China became more complicated and limited.
