Abstract
The rescue excavations carried out in the centre of Pápa produced a huge number of very different finds. Among others more than one hundred cloth seals were found, which number is higher than the all other such from the territory of the whole medieval Kingdom of Hungary. These seals represent a very intensive distance trade of cloth production in 15th–17th centuries between Pápa and several important western centres of cloth-production, including Cologne, Ulm, Nuremberg, Arras, Hamburg etc. The finds from Pápa supplement the data known from the written sources concerning the cloth trade.
