Abstract

According to an early chronicler, the documents of the hospital of Kaposvár from its foundation in 1849 to 1859 have gone completely lost. Other researchers approved this claim, so this decade has not been revealed ever since. Based on the files and documents found at the Hospital History Collection of Mihály Bodosi in the Kaposi Mór Educating Hospital, the author introduces the history of the ’missing period’ and the following decade. The article is the first to disclose the operation of the prison hospital, which – intermittently – sometimes served as the only health care institution of the county.
