Abstract
In Hungary, tourism and hospitality study programmes are among the most popular fields in higher education. Since the effectiveness and efficiency of the tourism and hospitality BA and MA programmes will greatly influence the future development of the country's tourism industry, there is a constant need of adaptation to current trends. The finingds based on qualitative research methods suggest that innovation in tourism education is highly dependend on individual creativity, but the successful implementation of personal initiatives is only possible within a supportive institutional framework.
