Abstract

EXPERIMENTS IN SAVING INNER CITY FACADES, PÉCS, HUNGARY STUDY BY: KRISZTIÁN SZIGETVÁRI Case studies have been prepared to examine how contemporary architectural solutions might impact preservation of existing, often protected building's facades. To what extent can change be expected in a protected monument area, and to what extent can change within the urban context? These questions go hand in hand and there is no obvious right or wrong answer. Many have tried and are trying to find it in facadism, since – to put it very simply, this is a method which develops while preserving something from the architecture of the past.
