Abstract
This article examines the visualization of Russia in the culture of the XVIII century when Russian culture was undergoing a radical transformation. Visualization refers to the functioning of an allegorical figure that personifies a people and/or a nation. The author demonstrates that this allegorical image first appeared in the panegyric drama of the era of Peter I under the influence of emblematic discourse transferred from Western Europe. This allegory of Russia clearly and visibly represented a new ideological concept and, in turn, influenced it, giving it a universal imperial character.
