Abstract
In the history of arms and armours, the study of various symbols, inscriptions or trademarks is of great importance both in determining the provenance and the development of weapons. Numerous weapon inscriptions – usually found on swords – are known from the 9th–12th-century Carpathian Basin. In addition to the prevalent Ingel-variants, we can expect the presence of various texts, letter combinations and letter-like characters in the region. This study provides a brief overview of these weapon inscriptions.
