Abstract
This paper introduces nanoparticles, which can be used for advanced composite materials. We introduce their role and their engineering applications, and describes the properties of commercially easily available carbon-based nanoparticles and a widely used production method of composites reinforced with these particles, vacuum assisted resin infusion molding. We also investigate the effects of carbon nanotubes, graphite and carbon black on the conductivity of carbon fiber– reinforced structural composites.
