Abstract

The purpose of this research is to examine the relationship between corruption and financial inclusion. Corruption is almost as old as the history of mankind, and is still present in everyday life. There are many sources available on the corruption situation in the countries of the world. One of the most well-known of these, Transparency International's Corruption Perceptions Index, is used by the authors in this study. Based on the data of the time series between Hungary and Mexico between 2009-2022, the authors examine the evolution of the performance provided by statistical methods. They also examine the performance in financial involvement in both countries using data from the World Bank Global Findex Report. Using these two indicators, the authors are looking for an answer to whether there is a correlation between corruption and financial literacy and what factors influence it. During the examined period, Hungarian performance in the field of financial literacy decreased, and the perception of corruption also decreased. This suggests that there is no direct correlation between the two indicators, which is also supported by literature data. The present research was a pilot study, the purpose of which was to lay the foundation for an international study. A kutatás célja a korrupció és a pénzügyi befogadás kapcsolatának vizsgálata. A korrupció majdnem egyidős az emberiség történelmével, és még mindig jelen van a mindennapi életben. A világ országaiban tapasztalható korrupciós helyzetről számos forrás áll rendelkezésre. Ezek közül az egyik legismertebbet, a Transparency International korrupcióészlelési indexét használják a szerzők ebben a tanulmányban. A szerzők a Magyarország és Mexikó közötti 2009-2022 közötti idősor adatai alapján statisztikai módszerekkel vizsgálják a teljesítmény alakulását. Mindkét országban megvizsgálják a pénzügyi szerepvállalás teljesítményét a Világbank Global Findex jelentésének adatai alapján. E két mutató segítségével a szerzők arra keresnek választ, hogy van-e összefüggés a korrupció és a pénzügyi kultúra között, és milyen tényezők befolyásolják azt. A vizsgált időszakban csökkent a magyar teljesítmény a pénzügyi kultúra terén, és csökkent a korrupció megítélése is. Ez arra utal, hogy a két mutató között nincs közvetlen összefüggés, amit irodalmi adatok is alátámasztanak. Jelen kutatás egy pilot tanulmány volt, melynek célja egy nemzetközi tanulmány megalapozása volt.
