és azokat a politikai és gazdasági válaszokat, amelyeket egyes európai országok – Ausztria, Németország, az Egyesült Királyság és Svédország – adtak a társadalom elöregedése súlyos következményeinek megelőzése érdekében. A különböző európai válaszok értékes tanulsággal szolgálnak a magyar nyugdíjrendszerben is szükségessé váló átalakításokhoz. Demográfiai osztalék akkor keletkezik, ha egy országban a termékenységi és a halálozási arányszámok egyidejű csökkenése miatt a gazdasági fejlődés felgyorsul. Az alacsony születésszám alacsony halálozási arányszámmal párosulva a termelékenység növekedéséből fakadó gazdasági többletet eredményez. A folyamat azonban átlagosan fél évszázad alatt megfordul, miután a csökkenő születésszám miatt a munkaerőpiac növekedése lelassul, miközben az orvostudomány és az egészségügyi ellátás fejlődése eredményeként folyamatosan nő az idősek száma, ami elkerülhetetlenül a demográfiai osztalék aranykorának végéhez vezet. | The essay is about the decline of the age of demographic dividends in European countries and the recent political and economic replies in Austria, Germany, the UK and Sweden to deal with the dire consequences of this decline stemming from the ageing of societies. The various European answers provide invaluable lessons for the necessary modifications of the Hungarian pension system. Demographic dividends occur in a country that enjoys accelerated economic growth that stems from the decline in fertility and mortality rates. Low birth rates together with low death rates result in an economic dividend from the increase in productivity. With fewer people to support and more people in the labor force, resources are freed up and invested in other areas to accelerate economic development. Eventually, in around half a century, however, the reduced birth rate reduces labor force growth. Meanwhile, improvements in medicine and better health practices lead to an ever-expanding elderly population, sapping additional income and putting an inevitable end to the demographic dividend.
