Abstract

How values old and new are expressed in contemporary architecture can be examined using examples which declare the end of the "starchitecture" age and the beginning of "valuebased architecture". This new architecture attempts to shape the built environment by considering user values, curiously often developed by large corporations, as flagship projects: The Spheres in Seattle, Booking HQ in Amsterdam and CapitaSpring in Singapore are discussed as examples of this new approach.
