Abstract
Settlements along the shore of Lake Balaton have undergone significant transformation over the last decade. In addition to the intensive development of waterfronts and the expansion of the functions of tourist facilities, the value of the existing village areas has also increased. The transformation was facilitated by the agglomeration of the region, the prominence of four-season uses and the after effect of pandemic, and today it is increasingly difficult to draw a line between the permanent population, those who build a second home that expires periodically but in four seasons, and vacationers. It has become timely to renew the settlement parts of the ancient village, which is also a complex challenge for contemporary architecture.
